day 7: craft your perfect day - 3kcbwday7 - 3kcbwwc (k&c blog week)

i imagine my perfect crafting day to be near the beach with gentle waves swifting smoothly through the sea, SUBHAANALLAH.

over-looking the sea, i glide my crochet hook through the yarn, birds flying by, school of fishes gliding about,

spending the morning there, i stroll to a shaded place tagging my yarn along with me, i sit under the shade of a mango tree,

with some snacks at hand,

hmmmm...... too oily.
plan change, lets switch it to some fruits,

thats the only much time going to be spend with the yarn,
with all that scenic beauty around, MASHAALLAH.

day 6: improving your skillset - 3kcbwday6 (k&c blog week)

SUBHAANALLAH, since the beginning of our lives till the end, we are in the process of learning. I don't think that i have mastered the art of crochet. But after learning the basics of crochet and having tried some patterns, i now want to learn knitting, INSHAALLAH. Once, i did try to knit a baby bootie but it looked more like a mitten. The thing i don't like about knitting is it unravels easily and if you are a beginner, it will take ages to figure out where it all began. I have never tried my hand at intarsia knitting. INSHAALLAH, the things that i want to try and improve my skills at, form a long list. Anyways, here are a few of them:
1. turkish crochet hat
http://www.crochetandknitting.net/crochet-pattern/crochet-patterns/free-crochet-hat-pattern/attachment/free-crochet-hat-pattern-1/
2. squiggle crochet
3. filet crochet
4. wool-eater square/blanket
5. writing detailed original patterns.

pending pattern

day 4: a crocheter for all seasons - 3kcbwday4 (k&c blog week)

although where i live its usually warm and dry but the airconditioning abundant everywhere makes it feel the opposite, MASHAALLAH. i rarely give any importance to the weather for crocheting. As far as i can recollect,  granny sweater was the only project that i had to make uptill now according to the season.

It was cold at my granny's place.

My projects are often crocheted in curiousity to try out new techniques and patterns.

day 3: knitting or crochet hero-3KCBWDAY3 (k&c blog week)

i would like to thank ALLAH who gave flexibility in hands to work with, sight to observe and enjoy the diversity of colours, the sense to combine all these blessings into cherishing projects and people to help and inspire, ALHUMDULILLAH.
In regards to the topic for today - a year ago, i was away from the world of crochet, i did watch and admired the work of my aunts but never took interest in learning it. surfing through the net, i got interested in the crochet art.
After learning the crochet basics from here and there, i started to venture in search of more projects and writing my own patterns, ALHUMDULILLAH.
fruitful fusion has a lot of importance in inspiring me to write as a blogger and sharing my crochet work with the world. looking at her projects inspire me to try out new ones and mostly the projects i want to try, are there already started or completed, MASHAALLAH.
Now for a more award's day type of speech - ALHUMDULILLAH, i would like to thank my dad (who got loads of yarn for me whenever i wanted), my mom & elder sis (who encourage me), brother in law & younger sis (critiques), nieces (who act as models), MASHAALLAH.
Last and the least, i would like to thank myself. yay, meeee !!!!!!

my first crochet project.

day 2: photography day-3KCBWDAY2 (k&c blog week)

After musing on the topic for today and choosing what to publish, i finally got something to post, ALHUMDULILLAH.
If you are a crocheting or knitting fan, you will imagine using yarn in almost all of your artful delights. In these pics, i want to depict the close relation between yarns and movie titles.

Note: MASHAALLAH, editing was done by my younger sis. INSHAALLAH, you can nominate me here, http://www.eskimimimakes.com/2012/04/knitting-and-crochet-blog-week.html, if you like my pics.

A Beautiful AYAT (translation) about ISLAM from the Holy QURAN.

And whoever desires other than Islam as religion – never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

[Surat ‘Ali `Imran (Family of Imran) 3:85]

day 1: colour lovers - 3KCBWDAY1 (k&c blog week)

Just for a second, lets ponder what it would be like if life was colourless. ALHUMDULILLAH, ALLAH gave us the sight, sense, and the ability to combine these colours to form beautiful results. Whereever we glance there are samples of colourful combinations, SubhaanALLAH.

i usually get inspired subconsciously by all the colours around me.

A Reminder.............

The Holy Prophet Mohammed (SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) said, stop doing everything during the Azan even reading the Quran, (and repeat the Azaan with the Moazzin.) The person who talks during the Azaan will
not be able to say the KALMA-E-SHAHADAT on his/her death bed.

One of the Beautiful AYAT (translation) from the HOLY QUR'AN.

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in ALLAH, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And ALLAH is All-Hearer, All-Knower. - (The QUR’AN, Al-Baqarah, 2: 256)

A Beautiful HADITH about faith.

The most valuable things in life are a tongue which mentions GOD, a grateful heart and a believing wife who helps a man with his faith.

A Beautiful HADITH about Jannah (Paradise).

Prophet Muhammad (SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) said that a caller will call out in Paradise when people enter it: “Indeed may you be healthy and never be sick again, may you live and never die again, may you be young and never grow feeble again, may you enjoy, and never feel sorrow and regret again.”

a cap for a little lass, MASHAALLAH.

This is a girl version of the cap found in accompaniments of a layette. I added a girly edging to it which gives it a feminine touch.

Heres the pattern for this simple and quick edging:
Join in any ch sp with a sl st,  sc in the same sp, (hdc, 2dc, hdc) in the same sp, sc in next, *(sc,hdc,2dc,hdc) in the next, sc in the next sp** and repeat from * to ** till u reach the beginning sc. sl st into the first sc and finish off.

dum ka kheema (baked minced meat)

This is a quick and easy recipe for the famous "dum ka kheema". "Kheema" means minced meat and "dum" means steamed/baked. Now, on with the recipe.....

Ingredients:
minced meat (preferably mutton)-900 gms
medium sized onions (finely sliced)-2
ginger and garlic paste - 3 tbsp
turmeric pdr - 1 tsp
red chilli pdr - 2tsp/less for mild
almonds - 8 to 10 (roasted on a pan for a couple of mins.)
garam masala pdr (optional)- 1 tsp
dhanya pdr (coriander seeds) - 1tbsp
salt - 1tbsp/to taste
yogurt - 800 gms/ 2 cups
oil - 1 cup for deep frying
charcoal (non-chemical) - 2 small pieces
Method:
In a wok, deep fry the onions till golden brown and keep aside. Wash the minced meat in a strainer and heat in a vessel with 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste, till excess water dries. Heat the charcoal on another flame, simultaneously. Be careful with the burning charcoal. Avoid any inflammable material near it. Make a pit in the middle of the meat in the vessel and place a small piece of aluminium foil. Add 2 tsp of oil in the foil and place the charcoal in it. Quickly cover the vessel with a tight lid. The vessel should be fully covered so that no smoke escapes from it. Let it stay for 10 mins.
In a blender, add yogurt, fried onions, roasted almonds, red chilli pdr, turmeric pdr, ginger garlic paste, 4 tbsp oil, garam masala, salt, dhanya pdr. Blend till the amonds are broken down into a paste.
Preheat the oven to 360 degrees, in a baking dish spread the smoked meat, pour the batter in the blender over the meat evenly. Bake in the oven till the meat turns brown(a little on the dark brown side not burnt) at the top. Garnish with fried onions, chopped mint and coriander leaves. It can be served with naan bread, pita or rice. Best accompanied with tomato chutney. INSHAALLAH, i will post the recipe for the chutney in one of my next posts.

A Beautiful HADITH about reward.

The Messenger of ALLAH (SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) said : "ALLAH (Mighty and Sublime be HE) says : MY faithful servant's reward from ME, if I have taken to ME his best friend from amongst the inhabitants of the world and he has then borne it patiently for MY sake, shall be nothing less than Paradise."

[Hadith Qudsi 29]

ALLAH, The Most High says, “And verily, if you ask them, who created the heavens and the earth?” Surely they will say,”ALLAH (has created them).” Say, “Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides ALLAH – if ALLAH intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He (ALLAH) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?” Say, “Sufficient for me is ALLAH; in Him those who trust (i.e. believers) must put their trust.” (Qur’an, 39:38)

A Beautiful HADITH about dates.

Narrated Sad: ALLAH’s Apostle (SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM) said, “He who eats seven ‘Ajwa dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 65 Hadith 356

two more of the hexagon series clothing.

These are the other two clothing items from the kid's hexagonal attire. This is a frock with the neckline of hexagons. The hexagons are of the same pattern used in the hexagon toddler shirt. Then there is a couple of dc layers, followed by v-sts all the way till the bottom and seven rounds of shell sts to finish off. This dress was crocheted for my eldest niece(s1), MASHAALLAH.

Its paired with this hair scrunchie, a big rose attached to a hair rubber band.

MASHAALLAH, this one is my favourite. Its all hexagons (again same pattern used) filled in with half hexagons at the bottom. The edging is of scanty fringes, giving it a cowboyish feel.

This is a readymade fabric head band to go with it. I attached a crocheted rose and it went perfectly with the shirt, ALHUMDULILLAH. This is a baby shirt which was designed for my third little niece(s3), MASHAALLAH.
